A hands-on product design challenge powered by Figma

INTRODUCTION

This Designathon is a hands-on product design challenge where participants take an idea from concept to interactive prototype using the Figma ecosystem. Teams will be given real-world problem statements on the event day and will work through ideation, interface design, prototyping, and final presentation within a fixed time frame. The focus of the event is on structured thinking, clarity of design, and how well ideas translate into usable digital products. Participants are encouraged to think beyond visuals and design meaningful web or mobile app experiences that effectively solve the given problem.

1st – 20,000
2nd– 10,000
Registration Fees: Rs.500

RULES & REGULATIONS

  • Each team must consist of a minimum of three participants and a maximum of four participants.

  • The problem statement will be revealed on the event day.

  • All work must be done using Figma tools.

  • Designs must be created during the event duration. Use of pre-made templates is not allowed, except for the default Figma components.

  • All submissions must include:

    • Ideation board (FigJam)

    • Design screens (Figma)

    • Interactive prototype (Figma Make)

    • Final presentation (Figma Slides)

  • Teams must submit their final Figma file and prototype link before the deadline.

  • Late submissions will not be considered.

  • All work must be original. Any plagiarism will lead to disqualification.

  • Use of AI is allowed for research & creative purposes.

Event Rounds:

  • Round 1: Problem Statement & Ideation

    • Problem statements are released to all participants.

    • Teams brainstorm ideas and user flows using FigJam. Focus on understanding the problem, target users, and core solution.

    • Deliverable: FigJam board with ideas, flows, and key assumptions.

  • Round 2: UI Design

    • Teams design core screens for their solution in Figma.

    • Emphasis on layout, typography, colour usage, and consistency.

    • User flow should be clearly reflected across screens.

    • Deliverable: High-fidelity UI screens in Figma.

  • Round 3: Real-world App Building

    • Teams convert their designs into a real-world working application using Figma Make.

    • Interactions, navigation flow, and transitions should reflect real usage.

    • Deliverable: Functional application / web app.

  • Round 4: Final Presentation

    • Teams present their solution using Figma Slides.

    • Presentation should cover:

      • Problem understanding

      • Design approach

      • Key features

    • Deliverable: Short presentation deck created in Figma Slides.
