SHORT FILM MAKING COMPETITION

“Think big, Shoot Short”

Theme: “Voiceless World”

The theme “Voiceless World” challenges filmmakers to explore narratives centered around those who cannot speak for themselves, either literally or figuratively.

Prizes:

1st – 6,000
2nd– 3,000
Registration Fees: Rs.300

This could include:

  • Environmental issues: The planet, animals, or nature.

  • Social issues: Marginalized communities, suppressed opinions, victims of injustice or children.

  • Personal struggles: Mental health, anxiety, or internal conflicts that remain unspoken.

  • Silence as a narrative device: Stories told purely through visuals, sound design, and acting, minimizing or eliminating dialogue.

 

Round 1: Submission and Selection

  • Task: Participants must submit their completed short film and all required entry documents on 11th Feb.

  • Jury Review: A preliminary judging panel will evaluate all submissions based on adherence to the theme, originality, and technical quality.

  • Result: The Top 10 Finalists will be selected to move on to the final round.

 

Round 2: Final Judging and Screening

  • Task: The Top 10 Finalists’ films will be screened on 12th Feb for a high-profile final judging panel (and optionally, a live audience).

  • Evaluation: The final judges will score the films based on artistic merit, direction, impact, and storytelling.

  • Result: The Top 2 Winners (1st and 2nd place) will be announced and awarded prizes.

 

Rules and Regulations:

A. Film Requirements

  1. Length: The film must have a maximum run time of 8 minutes (including credits). Films exceeding this limit will be disqualified.

  2. Originality: The film must be the original work of the entrant(s) and must not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, or any rights of any person or entity.

  3. Language: Since the theme is “Voiceless World,” dialogue is optional. If dialogue is used, the primary language must be Hindi. If a non-Hindi language is used, accurate English subtitles must be embedded in the video file.

  4. Completion: The film must be completed before the deadline.

  5. Content: The content must be suitable for the general audience (no excessive violence, nudity, or hate speech).

 

B. Eligibility and Entry Participants:

  • The competition is open to all certificate, diploma, undergraduate, and post-graduate students.

Number of Entries: A participant or team may submit a maximum of one (1) film.
Submission Format: Films must be submitted digitally as an MP4 file. The video resolution should be a maximum of 1080p (Full HD).
Submission Deadline: All entries must be received by the specified deadline (to be determined by the organizers).
Entry Form: A fully completed online entry form, along with a short synopsis (maximum 100 words), must be submitted with the film. Students are also required to provide behind-the-scenes photographs showcasing the director’s and actors’ work.

  • Storytelling & Impact (25%)

  • Cinematography, lighting, editing, and sound design (25%)

  • Originality & Creativity (25%)
